Longport Media has joined forces with CBS Radio’s new AM-FM simulcast  SportsRadio 94WIP Philadelphia, for the launch of “AM1490 as WIP At The Beach.” Longport blew up the station’s simulcasted News-Talk programming as of 9/23.

WBSS Pleasantville/Atlantic City, NJ will carry SportsRadio 94WIP’s sports talk line-up 24 hours a day including shows featuring Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid, Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel and the recently announced Chickie’s and Pete’s Player’s Lounge featuring Michael Vick.

WBSS has had a few changes lately: As of 8/12, the station switched to a simulcast of sister station WOND-AM—also News-Talk, and also from Pleasantville, NJ. WOND keeps the News-Talk format. In 2007, the call sign was WTAA and it ran Air America Radio. In 10/08, the talk format was abandoned in favor of Bustos Media’s regional Mexican format. The following February, WTAA again changed its format to Tropical music (La Nueva Fiesta), simulcast from JVC Media’s WBON in Westhampton, NY. The calls changed to WBSS in January 2010.

“From the beginning, we’ve been firmly committed to bringing the best live and local programming to the market,” said Longport Media President, Dave Coskey.  “For our listeners in South Jersey, when it comes to sports talk, we believe that Philadelphia sports are what our listeners are most interested in. And over the years, no one has done it better than WIP.”

Currently, two weekly program segments on SportsRadio 94WIP originate from Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. Longport Media will also serve as the exclusive broadcast partner in the Atlantic City market for the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers.

SportsRadio 94WIP recently began broadcasting on 94.1FM in addition to its home on 610 AM.
