Sportsradio 610 Philadelphia WIP’s Wing Bowl 18, the most celebrated radio event in Philadelphia, is this Friday, February 5 beginning at 6:00am. Wing Bowl 18, which is held at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, is already sold out, but listeners can be in on all the action by listening live on Sportsradio 610 WIP, over the Internet at 610WIP.com and through a variety of mobile devices.

Sportsradio 610 WIP morning personalities Angelo Cataldi and Al Morganti once again limited this year’s competitors to local amateur eaters only, as opposed to previous contests which featured professional eaters. Wing Bowl contestants are selected for their ability to complete various challenging eating stunts before they devour chicken wings in the annual competition at Wing Bowl.

“For the first time ever, Wing Bowl 18 will focus on the biggest reason for its success — women. Snooki of the TV phenomenon Jersey Shore will be our special guest, Miss Wing Bowl Jennifer Burmeister will embark on her final ride around the arena before her Hall of Fame induction, and a record 100 Wingettes will be there to count the wings. Adding to the drama will be local hero Jonathan Squibb trying to defend his title against 28 gluttons.  Together you’ve got the most spectacular Wing Bowl ever,” said WIP morning personality Angelo Cataldi, who co-founded Wing Bowl with radio partner Al Morganti.

Proceeds will be donated to the Philadelphia Police Department Survivor’s Fund.

WIP Wing Bowl 18 presented by Metro PCS, features 29 pre-selected eaters, nearly 20,000 listeners in attendance cheering them on, and members of the world-wide media chronicling the event. Twenty nine competitors will attempt to eat the most wings for prizes and glory. PJ Whelihans is the official supplier of wings for WIP Wing Bowl 18, their third consecutive year as sponsor and supplier.  A highlight is sure to be the appearance of “Snooki” (Nicole Polizzi, 21 of Marlboro, NY) of MTV’s Jersey Shore fame.

An impressive and valuable list of prizes awaits Wing Bowl contestants and participants: The winner of WIP Wing Bowl 18 wins a 2010 Ford F-150 from C & C Ford. The Wingette of the Year will receive a 2010 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster Motorcycle from Barb’s Harley Davidson, West Collingswood, NJ and a Wing Bowl 18 charm and necklace from Steven Singer Jewelers, Philadelphia. The winning Entourage will receive an Apple Vacation to Riviera Maya, Mexico for the eater and people in the entourage.
