NBC 4 New York announced Shiba Russell and Tom Llamas will serve as co-anchors for the new 5pm newscast scheduled to begin 9/12. With the addition of the 5 PM newscast, “New York Live,” NBC 4’s one-hour live daily information and lifestyle show, moves to 3 PM. The Nate Berkus Show moves to 2pm.
“We are dedicated to being the leader in local news in the Tri-State area and this additional newscast is one of the many building blocks that will help us achieve that goal,” said Michael Jack, NBC 4 President/GM. “We’re making significant investments to ensure WNBC is the market leader, including building a brand new, expanded state-of-the-art studio expected to be complete by the beginning of next year.”
Russell and Llamas are both award-winning journalists and Llamas has also been named as a contributing NBC News correspondent.
