WOMC's Bobby Mitchell to camp out for toys

0

CBS Radio’s Classic Hits WOMC-FM Detroit will be broadcasting live from Santa’s Toy Castle at TCF Bank in Canton, MI 12/16 from 6AM-10AM and 12/17 from 8AM-10 PM, to benefit The Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. Perched on top of Santa’s Toy Castle scaffolding will be Bobby Mitchell of The Bobby Mitchell Show with Chuck Gaidica (weekdays 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.) braving the elements, sleeping in a tent and even using a porta-john.

He won’t be coming down from his sky-high encampment until 10,000 new toys have been collected for underprivileged children in southeast Michigan. The toys will be distributed by The Salvation Army in time for the holidays. There will also be family-friendly activities at the bank; Santa will be on-site and children can make ornaments when gifts are dropped off.

RBR-TVBR observation: WOMC has had a long tradition with the Salvation Army, with former morning man Dick Purtan doing some 23 Radiothons over the years in February to benefit The Salvation Army’s Bed & Bread Program.
