WWRL-AM NYC will host an interactive town hall meeting and exchange of ideas on Tuesday, 7/21.  The event will be held at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and will be moderated by personalities including Errol Louis, WWRL Morning Show Host, NY Daily News Columnist and CNN contributor; Ed Schultz, Nationally Syndicated WWRL Afternoon Personality and MSNBC Weekday Host; and Alan Colmes, Nationally Syndicated WWRL Evening Personality and FOX-TV Host.

The meeting is sponsored in part by the American Diabetes Association, District Council 37, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Gramercy Health Associates, InVite Health Inc., Morningside Dental, New York Blood Center, Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and The Visiting Nurse Services of New York.

GM Adriane Gaines says, “This town hall meeting will provide New Yorkers an opportunity to give voice to their opinions and reflections on healthcare reform and its impact on their lives.”

The Heart 2 Heart Town Hall Meeting will take place from 6:00 – 8:30P with doors opening at 5P for a health expo.

RBR/TVBR observation: Obviously, this is a great way to get non-traditional sponsorhip dollars–while creating goodwill in the community. if you’ve got good talent that can showcase an ad category well by surrounding it in content, set it up and start signing up the sponsors. Healthcare is still pretty strong in many markets, but this sort of educational presentation can be done with auto dealers and financing/banks locally as well, for example. Try a car buying seminar rather than a tent sale.
