Canny, Inc. and Windham Mountain have completed the entire operations and facilities of WYBN-TV 14 in Albany, NY. WYBN and Windham Mountain have a programming, promotion and operational deal in place for the digital UHF LPTV facility licensed to Cobleskill, Green and Columbia Counties—including the Upper Hudson Valley area and the Capital District of Upstate NY. The transmitter will be installed and activated between 10/3 and 10/5. It will have a soft launch and roll out promos, marketing and programs over a 4-6 week “shake down” period.
George Driscol, Windham Mountain marketing Director, says the additional power of an “on mountain” studio and TV facility will keep them in the forefront of cutting-edge North American ski facilities. From snow reports to ski shows and golf summer special events, they are now reaching over 820,000 viewers, skiers and golfers.
WYBN will be the first new TV facility in the Capital District in almost a decade. Its ERP is 15kW at 3,200 feet. Cable Ad Net NY (Canny) President Dan Viles notes that WYBN will actually multiplex 10 program streams:
