CBS Radio/Detroit’s WYCD-FM has a lot to be proud of. Just coming off its 11th year, its Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon, held December 9 and 10, raised $338,700 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. That’s nearly $50,000 more than in 2009.

“Once again our WYCD listeners came to the call and pledged an amazing amount of money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital,” said Debbie Kenyon, VP/Market Manager for CBS Radio Detroit.  “We are thrilled with the outpouring of support for this worthwhile cause.”

Over the past decade, WYCD Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon has raised over $5.5 million from listeners’ donations, benefitting the hospital that treats children suffering from cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

“It’s amazing that there are so many generous people in the Detroit area joining WYCD and the country music community to help fight cancer,” said WYCD PD Tim Roberts.  “I’m always blown away by the generosity of Metro Detroit and our WYCD fans.”

WYCD morning show host Jason the 300 pound cowboy, host Rachael Hunter, radiothon volunteer Mandy Reinke and host Dr. Don Carpenter lend time and talent to the cause.
