SoldStarboard Media Foundation has closed on its deal to acquire WNSW-AM New York from Multicultural Broadcasting, transitioning yet another AM station to the non-profit side of the broadcast divide.

Bergner & Co. broker Michael J. Bergner handled arrangements for the transaction.

The price: $10.1M.

Starboard, which has its own fleet of O&Os and an additional set of affiliates for its Catholic-oriented religious fare, has acquired decent access to the Big Apple. It beams in from Newark NJ from a Class B 1310 kHz dial position, with 10 kW-D, 7 kW-N, DA2.

Bergner told RBR that it continues the trend of AM stations going to niche operators. He noted that large commercial groups are showing little interest in broadcasting’s senior medium.
