Radio ownership rules have not undergone any significant changes since the 1990s.
That’s a problem, says Republican FCC Commissioner Mike O’Rielly. With that attitude, O’Rielly and his GOP colleagues heralded the agency’s consideration of a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would initiate a review of “certain broadcast ownership rules.”
Brendan Carr noted how some of these rules have been in place since 1940.
What MB Docket 18-349 does is opens for comment what changes, if any, the Commission should make on its ownership rules for broadcast media. Some lament it doesn’t go far enough.
