NBC's 'The Biggest Loser 13' takes second-place in time slot

From 8-10 p.m. ET, the premiere of “The Biggest Loser 13” (2.3/6 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in the time period in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos in a tough time period that included competition from CBS’s “NCIS” and “NCIS: LA,” ABC’s “Last Man Standing,” series premiere of “Work It” and regular-slot debut of “Celebrity Wife Swap” and Fox’s encores of “Glee,” “The New Girl” and “Raising Hope.”  “Biggest Loser” grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 19 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.5 from a 2.1). 


Head to head versus ABC’s regular-slot premiere of “Celebrity Wife Swap” from 9-10 p.m. ET, “The Biggest Loser 13” was higher rated in all key categories — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers (pending updates).  In adults 18-49, “Biggest Loser” held a 9 percent advantage over “Celebrity Wife Swap” head to head from 9-10 p.m. (2.4 vs. 2.2).

Head to head versus ABC’s premiere of “Work It” from 8:30-9 p.m. ET, “The Biggest Loser 13” was higher rated in nearly all key categories — adults, men and women 18-34, adults, men and women 18-49 and adults and women 25-54, as well as total viewers (pending updates) — plus a tie in men 25-54.  In adults 18-49, “Biggest Loser” held a 15 percent advantage over “Work It” head to head from 8:30-9 p.m. (2.3 vs. 2.0).

At 10 p.m., “Parenthood” averaged a 1.7/4 in 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall.  In the time period, “Parenthood” ranked #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and most other key categories and tied for #1 in adults 18-34 and was #1 outright in women 18-34.  Note that “Parenthood” has been adding 43 percent to these next-day “live plus same day” ratings when Nielsen issues “live plus seven day” results so far this season.
