Small deal underlies LIN/New Vision group sale

LIN MediaMore details are available regarding the acquisition of the New Vision Television group by LIN Media – which includes the right to continue agreements with a trio of operated but not owned stations.  However, they, too, are being sold.

The stations are operated in tandem with New Vision properties in Youngstown OH, Savannah GA and Topeka KS. They include  MyTV WYTV in Youngstown, FOX WTGS-TV in Savannah GA and ABC KTKA-TV in Topeka.

They are already in LMAs with New Vision, which will be carried forward when LIN takes over the New Vision stations; but ownership of the LMA’d stations will shift from Todd Parkin’s PBC Broadcasting to Thomas J. Vaughan’s Vaughan Media LLC.

The price for the trio will be $4.6M.

LIN has an option to acquire them down the road. It has paid a nominal $8.5K for the option. It would likely require a change to the local television ownership caps – or some other seismic market-condition or local population shift — for LIN to move on the stations.

The overall deal includes a number of full power satellite stations, as well as low power outlets. Some of the low power stations also function as repeaters, but others are used as conduits for primary program streams. Here is what’s included in the total package.
