Heritage AC WNIC-FM Detroit has made a move 12/27 to Hot AC, re-naming itself as “Fresh 100.3,” borrowing the name in-market with CBS Radio’s permission. The on-air talent stays. The change was made after the all-Christmas format was retired for the season. The station is currently allowing listeners to request/vote on songs via the Listener Driven Radio widget.
RBR-TVBR observation: Looks like the move was to chase after Citadel’s Hot AC WDVD-FM there. WNIC was most recently running at #12 (a tie) in the market; WDVD tied for #5. AC is hurting in Motown in general, as Greater Media’s WMGC is tied for #18 right now.
