Two Minute Television introduces first series
More content for video webcasting over cellphones: Two Minute Television Network (2MTN), an original content producer, has introduced its first two minute series "Genius On A Shoestring", the first two minute reality series, to the broadcast and cable industry, websites that video-stream content, web enabled television, and cellphones.
"We're jumping into the market with four feet," said David Post CEO of Two Minute Television, "we believe that TV for the time-compressed is an industry waiting to happen."
The sister company of 2MTN, Nextpert News has been a content provider of 2 minute weekly lifestyle trends and what's next segments for over six years to leading TV stations across the country. "We live in the two minute world - telling a story, providing information, and entertaining viewers, all in a couple of minutes, so we understand the genre" said Post. "Now the next logical step is to create entertainment programming that looks/feels like shows you might see in primetime, but in two minute versions, with a beginning, middle and end."
The first platform - television and cable, where Nextpert is already entrenched, is being approached as a "show-within-a-show", an opportunity to drop-in segments within existing news and entertainment formats or as filler.
The company's first series of 26 episodes, "Genius" has street savvy marketers competing for who can best buzz a new innovation, with the prize of "ten seconds of fame". The next two series to launch are "News With A Punchline" and "Cinderella Stories" with two more series in development. "Our objective is to have a two minute series for every day of the week, so viewers can look forward to their two minute vacation" Post said.
The second platform, the web, is a medium in which the company is well-versed. At present, over 115 TV stations stream Nextpert content and will soon begin video streaming the two minute shows as well. In web-delivered TV, the company has already signed its first deal and formal announcements will be made shortly. In the "third screen" or TV-over-cellphone, 2MTN has signed its first worldwide deal and will announce several more in the coming weeks.
