Transactions: 4/11/05-4/15/05

A merger between two Midwestern small market radio groups and an Amarillo TV deal joined a number of other smaller deals, finally melting the iceberg that was holding radio trading in check - - the three big deals fueled a surge that just barely missed clearing into three-digit territory.

TV Deal of the Week
Texas two step slides into New Mexico
Finally a TV transaction. New Vision Group sent an Amarillo ABC affiliate and its Clovis NM satellite to Barrington Broadcasting for 22.5M - - the first TV transaction filed since the end of February.

Radio Deal of the Week
Two groups combine into one
NRG Radio combines the forces of NewRadio Group and Waitt Radio - - the new group is mostly comprised of Midwest stations in unrated towns. We put the combined value somewhere around 66.7M - - 30M for NewRadio and 36.7M for Waitt. Although not all Waitt stations were part of this transaction, they do seem to be under common management at this time.
