1060 set to fire back up in Boston

New owner Holy Family Communications says the signal upgrade to the former Business-formatted WBIX-AM Boston. The new 50kw transmitter will fire up in November to air Catholic programming 24/7. The new calls for the 1060 kHz station are WQOM-AM.


“We are thrilled to be able to make these upgrades to the station. Broadcasting at 50,000 watts will allow us to reach listeners across The Commonwealth with our programming,” said Jim Wright, President of The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network, which is a division of Holy Family Communications. The network will provide programming for WQOM.

The Boston AM will become the largest station of Holy Family Communications. The Station of the Cross began broadcasting on WLOF-FM Buffalo, NY, in August 1999 and added WHICH-AM Rochester, NY in 2003.The not-for-profit Catholic radio organization is funded completely by donations.
