The Broadcasters Foundation of America says the 2012 Ward L. Quaal Leadership Awards (formerly the Pioneer Awards) will be presented at the Foundation’s annual breakfast 4/18 at the Wynn Hotel during the NAB Show inLas Vegas. The six individuals with highly distinguished careers who will be honored with 2012 Leadership Awards:
Carl Brazell – President, Metromedia Radio, Retired
Brian Cobb – President, Cobb Corporation
John Dimling – former Chairman, Nielsen Media Research
Ralph Guild – former Chairman, Interep and President, Guild Media
Jack Sander – Vice Chairman, Media Operations, Belo Corporation, Retired
Larry Wilson – former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Citadel Radio and current radio station owner
The Leadership Awards are given annually in recognition of career contributions to the broadcast industry and the community at large, and are named in honor of iconic broadcaster Ward L. Quaal.
Jim Delmonico will also be honored posthumously with the Chairman’s Award for his contributions to the broadcasting industry, and his service as a longtime former Chairman of the Broadcasters Foundation. Delmonico, who passed away this past January, is credited with the resurrection of the Broadcast Pioneers and changing the organization’s name to the Broadcasters Foundation.
