A New Direction Promises Small-Market Stations A Big Future

On Sept. 12, a family-owned broadcasting company serving one of the biggest resort communities in the U.S. quietly announced that it was planning to sell its AM and FM stations.

Now, a final agreement has been put into place that will convert a Lease Management Agreement (LMA) to outright ownership for the entity that’s now overseeing a three FM/two AM (plus translators) cluster that also includes a local online news hub and cable TV offering The Vacation Channel.

The company buying the stations is led by the seller’s former Director of Sales, and a former presidential candidate who served as the 44th Governor of Arkansas and presently hosts a political talk show on the Christian noncomm TBN network.
