The E.W. Scripps Co. has made it clear that its future financial success lies not with AM and FM broadcasts but with digital audio technology and measurement services and the ownership of over-the-air television stations.


The October 29 acquisition of 15 of 16 stations from Minnesota-based Cordillera Communications puts an exclamation point on where the company led by Local Media President Brian Lawlor is heading.

Here’s a look at the properties Scripps hopes will allow it to better compete against Gray Television, Nexstar Media Group and whoever ends up acquiring Tribune Media.
