ABC News and The Washington Post announced today that they have partnered to present a new version of “Top Line,” ABC’s daily political program. The program, which relaunches under the new partnership Monday, May 10, is a daily midday webcast focusing on the top political news of the day, including interviews with newsmakers and analysis from some of the best political observers in Washington. The new, co-branded “Top Line” will feature a Washington Post journalist each day in a segment called “Post Politics.” Washington Post reporters who will regularly appear on “Top Line” include Chris Cillizza, Managing Editor of PostPolitics.com and author of “The Fix,” and Political Reporters Dan Balz, Karen Tumulty and Anne Kornblut. On Monday, May 10, the first installment of the new “Top Line” will host U.S. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.

“Top Line,” originally launched in March of 2009 with ABC News Political Director David Chalian and Senior Political Reporter and author of ‘The Note,’ Rick Klein, airs Monday-Friday at
12:00 p.m., ET on ABC News’ digital network, ABC News NOW, and streams live on ABCNEWS.com, where clips are also available. The show will now be streamed by The Washington Post as well, and archived segments can be found on PostPolitics.com as video on demand.

“We’re thrilled to be able to present our viewers with this new, co-branded show highlighting not only ABC’s political reporting, but reporting from the Washington Post as well,” says Sara Just, Senior Producer for Digital Media at ABC News. “We hope that our users are as excited about the new ‘Top Line’ as we are to bring it to them.”

“By partnering with a trusted news brand such as ABC News, we are able to get some of our most recognized political reporters in front of new audiences and offer another innovative video feature to our readers,” said Kevin Merida, National Editor, The Washington Post.

Sam Brooks is the producer of “Top Line” and Nancy Han is the executive producer of ABC News NOW. After “Top Line” airs, it is also available on iTunes, on the ABC News iPhone app and on ABC News’ YouTube Channel, in addition to ABCNEWS.com and The Post’s newly launched political homepage, PostPolitics.com.
