All quiet on the FCC complaint front

Even though watchdogs are on constant alert for any slip-ups, the FCC reported that there were only 1,023 complaints about broadcast indecency or obscenity during the first quarter of 2012.

That was a greater total than the number of complaints that fell under the heading of general criticism, and not nearly as many as the number that fell into the catch-all other category.

The totals were general criticism 726, indecency/obscenity 1,023, and other 1,854.

On the indecent/obscene front, 231 were received in January, 386 in February and 406 in March.
There were only 207 instances of a complaint about interference, and 93 were about service.
