America gets to pick an “America’s Got Talent” qualifier

As “America’s Got Talent” went on hiatus for the Beijing Olympics on NBC, judges Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and David Hasselhoff had selected the top 40 acts to compete when the series resumes August 26th, after the Olympics wrap-up. So far, so good. But then, Christine from the Russian Bar Trio, suffered a serious injury in a rehearsal accident and the act has withdrawn from the competition. To fill the spot – and, not coincidentally, keep fans interested while the series is on its Olympic break – NBC is having viewers vote on which of eight “wildcard” acts will get a slot in the final 40. Viewers can review the videos and vote online (www.NBC.com/AGT) through 4:00 pm ET Friday.
