As ‘AMFA’ Markup Awaits, Crowley & Co. Spin Their Story

He’s a former Democratic Congressman from New York who infamously lost his reelection campaign in a primary defeat to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. 


He’s in support of legislation that has the support of one co-sponsor in the Senate and just 34 House Members.

That hasn’t stopped Joe Crowley from pushing ahead with eager anticipation of perhaps his greatest post-Congressional achievement yet — a House Judiciary Committee markup of the “American Music Fairness Act.”

Getting the bill, which would impose new royalty fees on radio airplay of recorded music, this far is an achievement. But, getting it passed in the House is a whole other matter. Even with a new push that sees 40+ “prominent music artists and creators” seek Congressional approval of the proposed law, the likelihood of that happening is perhaps akin to having Gigi Sohn successfully appointed as the fifth Commissioner of the FCC.
