Aspirational Colorado FM sold

Todd Robinson has filed to buy KLBO-FM Limon CO from one of Edward Seeger’s license companies. The station is in Limon now, but has applied for changes that will give it a much taller antenna in HAAT terms, and that will place it a good bit closer to Denver.

Seeger’s licensee company is Colorado Inc. According to broker Todd Fowler, who represented Robinson, the price is $350K. The contract specifies a $25K escrow deposit, an additional $225K paid in cash at closing and a promissory note for the remaining $100K.

The station is a C1, located well to the east of Denver, with 100 kW @ 443’ HAAT. The CP, if granted, would place the station’s transmitter near the current western extremity of its 60 dBu contour as a Class C0, with the same frequency and power, but on a 1,470’ HAAT stick. The new city of license would be Parker, which is a good 65 miles or so closer to Denver than is Limon. However, the proposed new transmitter site falls somewhere in between the old and new cities of license.

At any rate, the new parameters will take the 60 dBu contour past Denver with a western reach including several communities along an arc defined north to south by Thornton, Berkley, Lakewood and Littleton.

Robinson currently owns KTKE-FM Truckee CA and is in partnerships that hold stations in Virginia, California and Arizona. Seeger is associated with multi-service broadcast firm American Media Services.
