The Dow Jones Industrial Average managed to post a tiny gain at the closing bell on a day when most news was negative. The Commerce Department reported that new home sales fell by a third in May to their lowest level since anyone began keeping records. The Fed said it would keep interest rates extremely low, but the bad news there was that the Fed’s policy making committee is now less optimistic about the pace of the economic recovery. Despite all that, the DJIA was up five points, to 10,298, while the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 ended in negative territory. Broadcasting stocks were among the losers.
The RBR Radio Index was down 14.370, or 4%, to 349.832.
The TVBR Television Index was down 2.357, or 1.1%, to 203.797.
