Beasley Media Group has two more National Format Brand Managers in its stable of programming prowess professionals. One is the PD of its recently acquired Sports station in Boston. The other is a Toronto radio veteran who presently serves as PD of Beasley’s Country station in the Hub.

Now serving in the company-wide programming seats are Mike Thomas, who directs the programming for WBZ-FM 98.5 “The Sports Hub,” and David Corey, who leads the programming for clustermate WKLB-FM 102.5 in Boston.

Thomas takes the newly created title of National Format Brand Manager for Spoken Word formats. As such, he will work closely with Sports Programming, Talk, Podcasting and Esports content.

Corey will focus on Beasley Media Group’s Country stations throughout the company.

Thomas and Corey will continue to oversee their respective local market stations, while also focusing on their newly expanded roles.

“Mike and David will join our existing National Format Brand Managers, John Candelaria (Urban) from Detroit, Cadillac Jack (AC/CHR) from Boston and Bill Weston (Rock) from Philly to round out a first class programming team to further support and elevate our stations,” said Beasley Media Group EVP/Programming Justin Chase.

“We’re thrilled to recognize the excellent work from these two fine Brand managers and look to tapping into their expertise to help the entire company,” added Executive Vice President of Strategy and Innovation Buzz Knight.

Thomas joined Beasley following its acquisition of WBZ-FM, made possible by CBS Radio’s merger with Entercom. At CBS Radio, he had been VP/Sports Programming for the company, following six years in that role for CBS Radio/Boston. Thomas was PD of Classic Rock WZLX and Sports WBZ-FM from February 2006-November 2017. He also served as PD of former Boston Rocker WBCN-FM.

Thomas’ lengthy history in radio includes roles as PD under Jacor and Clear Channel for WTUE-FM & WXEG-FM in Dayton; WFBQ-FM in Indianapolis; and KGB-FM in San Diego, where he also hosted middays.

Early career stops include roles as PD of WYMG in Springfield, Ill., for Saga Communications, and as PD for WIRX and WYTZ/WZTY in Benton Harbor, Mich., for Mid-west Family Broadcasting.

For Corey, PD duties at WKLB came in May 2017, following the retirement of Mike Brophey. Corey had formerly been VP/Radio Programming for Bell Media in Toronto, overseeing 105 radio stations including Hot AC CHUM-FM 104.7 in Canada’s largest market.

Corey began his career in Boston in 1995, and spent 11 years at WXKS-FM “Kiss 108,” exiting as Asst. PD/MD before relocating to Ontario.
