BEND, ORE. — With a Class C2 facility licensed to Terrebone, Ore., KICE-FM 94.9 has a signal that blankets the popular outdoor recreational cities of Bend, Redmond, and Sisters, Ore., to the southeast of Portland.
Until now, KICE has been a FOX Sports Radio affiliate. That will soon change, as the station is being sold.
Sunriver Broadcasting Corp., doing business as Fields Pond Group, won KICE in an FCC auction for a $53,000 investment. As of today, it’s parting ways with the station it signed on in late October 2015.
And, with collegiate sports scrapped for the 2020-2021 academic year until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the sale could be tied to the difficulty of attracting advertisers and listeners when Pac-12 events involving Oregon State University and the University of Oregon have been scrubbed.
What does this mean for KICE? No more “Hail Mary” calls, but plenty of Christian thought, as TheDove Media has acquired the station for $315,000.
A $45,000 deposit is being held by Smithwick & Belendiuk.
The acquisition agreement includes Sunriver’s lease agreement with American Tower Corp., renewed in 2020.
Serving as the seller’s broker is MCH Enterprises.
With KICE, TheDove Media’s holdings expand from two low-power TV stations in Medford, Ore., and FMs serving Brookings, Coos Bay, Medford and Port Orford, Ore.
