On Dec. 6, 2020, the sole owner of an AM/FM combo and an FM translator serving a portion of the Norfolk DMA passed away.
Now, paperwork is being filed with the Commission that will formally transfer ownership of the facilities to the executrix of his estate.
This will see Class D WXGM-AM 1420 and FM translator W272EJ at 102.3 MHz, along with 6kw Class A WXGM-FM 99.1 in Gloucester, Va., shift from Tom Robinson to Marva Robinson.
Patrick Cross at Brooks Pierce handled all of the legal paperwork for Ms. Robinson.
No changes are expected at the stations.
WXGM-FM is unique, in that it is unable to fully cover Norfolk due to the presence of 50kw WVOD-FM 99.1 in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. To the north is Class B WDCH-FM, the former WHFS, which serves the Washington and Baltimore markets.
This has made “Xtra 99.1” a local choice, serving Gloucester Courthouse and Williamsburg and the towns in-between due north of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area.
