Univision is celebrating Nielsen data showing that last Wednesday’s broadcast of the soccer match between the national teams of the US and Mexico drew nearly 9.6 million viewers, with an average audience of nearly 5.1 million. For the night in the 18-34 demo, Univision topped ABC, CBS, NBC and CW. (Fox had “Idol,” of course.) Univision notes that its Spanish broadcast drew nearly seven times the average audience of the English broadcast of the same game on ESPN.
