Legendary local host Bill “Willie” Cunningham has put an end to local rumors that he would leave WLW-AM Cincinnati to work for former boss Randy Michaels at WGN-AM Chicago. Instead, Clear Channel Radio’s WLW has signed him to a new long-term contract.

“We are extremely pleased that Willie will remain part of the 700WLW team for many years to come,” said Chuck Fredrick, President and Market Manager – Clear Channel Cincinnati.

“Cincinnati is my home.  The first air I breathed.  The first milk I drank was from Cincinnati.  Others may have come as carpet baggers to loot the Queen City and then move on.  Willie will remain true,” said Cunningham.

Cunningham is host of WLW’s market leading Noon-3:00 pm show – which has been rated #1 in mid-days for over 10 years.

While he will remain in Cincinnati on the radio airwaves, Cunningham has been shooting pilots with Tribune Television for a potential TV show.
