Bucknell’s WVBU Fined

FCCdoorIn order to end a case holding up license renewal for non-commercial college station WVBU(FM), the FCC and Bucknell University have reached an agreement.

The school agrees to pay a $2,200 fine for an incomplete public file and for moving its public file from its main studio to the campus student center without a waiver.

Bucknell believe the move makes sense because the main studio is in the basement of a restricted-access residence hall. The university moved the file to the switchboard of the publicly-accessible student center. The FCC has now granted the waiver allowing the school to keep the public file there.

The agreement clears the way for WVBU to have its license renewed once the fine is paid and assuming no other violations are found.
