The effort is on-air and online, and features the 2012 Ford Focus. The 2/20 premiere (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) had teams starting the Race in Palm Springs, CA. After receiving their first destination from host Phil Keoghan, all 11 Teams jumped into a new Ford Focus and drove to LA International Airport before departing on their first leg to Sydney, Australia. Ford’s sponsorship will also be integrated within a future episode.
CBS.com will also launch “Focus on The Amazing Race,” an interactive map game sponsored by Ford. The map will allow fans to track the locations of their favorite teams throughout the Race and give them the opportunity to watch exclusive video highlights by clicking on Roadblocks, Detours, Fast Forwards and U-Turns. Additionally, by correctly answering trivia questions at the end of host Phil Keoghan’s weekly video diaries, users will be entered for a chance to win a weekly giveaway and the grand prize: a 2012 Ford Focus and $15,000 toward their own amazing journey.
This season, racers will travel 40,000 miles through five continents and 23 cities.
