With Sunday’s shutdown of Westwood One News by Cumulus Media‘s Westwood One arm, many radio stations were left to decide what to do with a replacement service.

It’s now known that nearly 150 stations went with CBS News Radio, while more than 50 have selected FOX News Radio as a new audio news provider.

In an announcement from CBS News Radio VP/GM Craig Swagler, some 148 stations have signed on for affiliation agreements in the past six week.

The new station agreements expand the reach of CBS Audio programming to News/Talk stations owned by Cumulus Media and music stations owned by Beth Neuhoff’s Neuhoff Media, the Kristin Cantrell-led 7 Mountains Media, the Carl Parmer-led SummitMedia, and Cox Media Group radio flagship WSB-AM 750 & WSBB-FM 95.5 in Atlanta.

At the same time, FOX News Audio has expanded its national radio affiliate network to include 56 former Westwood One News affiliate stations.

New affiliates include former Cumulus Talker WABC-AM in New York, and current Cumulus properties WMAL-AM in Washington, D.C. and WBAP-AM in Dallas.

Besides offering one and five-minute hourly newscasts, FOX News Audio will also offer partnered affiliates breaking news coverage and special programming for holidays and political events, including the upcoming presidential election.

FOX News operates FOX News Audio, which encompasses FOX News Radio, FOX News Podcasts and FOX News Headlines 24/7. A 24/7 news service, it reaches more than 36 million listeners a week on over 1,000 affiliated radio stations.
