If everything goes according to plan, Liberman Broadcasting is getting a Palm Springs FM and moving it closer to its other Southern California properties, into the Riverside-San Bernardino. Meanwhile, the seller of that station will be replacing it with another. In part one of this saga, Liberman gets KDES-FM Palm Springs from Frederic and Rozene Supple’s R&R Radio Corporation for 10.5M. R&R promises to kick off the paperwork to move the station to 104.7 MHz in Redlands CA to be co-located with Liberman’s KRQB-FM San Jacinto CA. Liberman also has KRCA-TV in the market, and has two AMs and four FMs in nearby Los Angeles. Meanwhile, R&R is picking up KWKY-FM Cathedral City CA in a stock deal with Glen Barnett, Trustee for the Barnett-KWXY Trust. That station will go for 7.5M, and will maintain the AM/FM status quo in a Palm Springs superduopoly along with KPSI AM & FM, KPTR-AM and KGAM-AM.
