Charlie O'Donnell dead at 78

“Wheel of Fortune” announcer Charlie O’Donnell died Monday (11/1) of heart failure. He was 78.


O’Donnell’s career dated back to 1958, when he worked with Dick Clark on “American Bandstand.” Over the years he was the announcer for numerous television shows.

O’Donnell had two stints on Wheel of Fortune, first from 1975 to 1980 – then returning after the death of Jack Clark in 1988 to serve as the game show’s announcer up until his own death.
