MIAMI — Earlier this week, RBR+TVBR confirmed that Christopher Wood, Univision’s SVP/Associate General Counsel for Governmental and Regulatory Affairs, quietly exited in June.

Now, his successor has been appointed to the NAB Television Board of Directors. And, it is the first public acknowledgment of a transition at TelevisaUnivision.

Now in the role of EVP/Government Affairs for the Hispanic multimedia company is Steve Haro. And, he’s succeding Wood on the NAB TV Board, chaired by Nexstar founder and head Perry Sook.

The appointment is effective immediately.

Haro joined TelevisaUnivision in April 2022. As such, he is not taking Wood’s old position but is absorbing all of Wood’s former duties, as Haro now oversees all policy, advocacy and political work for the company.

Prior to joining TelevisaUnivision, Haro was a consultant for the government affairs firm Mehlman Castagnetti Rosen & Thomas. Previously, Haro served as chief of staff to Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N. Mex.). In 2015, he was nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed unanimously by the Senate as Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of Commerce.

Haro has also worked for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as its Western Regional Political Director and National Hispanic Outreach Director. He previously served as Senior Adviser to former Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) and as Colorado communications director and chief spokesperson for Sen. John Kerry’s presidential campaign.
