In July 1999, the GSM of Mid Atlantic Communications’ Winchester, Va. stations jumped across town, taking the VP/Market Manager role for Clear Channel.

He’s been with the company now known as iHeartMedia ever since.

Now, this veteran of the Shenandoah region of Virginia is being promoted, and will be shifting southward along U.S. 11 and I-81.

Now serving as Area President for Winchester, Harrisonburg and the biggest market in Virginia’s west, Roanoke-Lynchburg markets, is Chuck Peterson.

He will oversee 16 stations and reports to Dave Carwile, President of iHeartMedia’s Virginia/Carolina Region.

“Chuck has been a consistent performer for us in the Virginia markets,” said Carwile. “We are excited to elevate Chuck to Area President with the addition of Roanoke- Lynchburg to Chuck’s purview. He has a proven track record of leading teams and driving revenue growth through innovative thinking.”

A graduate of American University, Peterson entered the radio business in June 1986 by taking an AE job with Straus Communications. From 1988-1991, he was Sales Manager for the company’s Front Royal, Va.-based stations. In March 1991, he jumped to Mid Atlantic, serving as an AE for two years before rising to GSM.
