As of August 16, Apollo Global Management-controlled Cox Media Group will have a new EVP/General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.

He reports to CMG President/CEO Dan York and will depart his role as a Partner in the Technology Transactions and M&A practice groups at a globally recognized law firm.

Taking the role on the third Monday of August is Eric Dodson Greenberg.

He joins CMG from the Seattle-based law firm of Perkins Coie, and split his time between the firm’s Washington, D.C., and New York offices.

Once ensconced in CMG, Greenberg will be in charge of all legal responsibilities for the company’s business and operations, as well as corporate governance, transactions, and regulatory compliance.

Greenberg “has guided leading media companies in accretive strategies and prominent technology clients as they increasingly rely on new technologies to support content distribution and consumer products,” his Perkins Coie bio reads. “Unusual as a background for a corporate transactional lawyer, Eric’s ability to integrate complex commercial and regulatory issues draws from his experience earlier in his career advising executive branch agencies at the Office of Legal Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice. He is also a member of the firm’s Coronavirus Client Service Team, through which he provides contractual advice and helps to coordinate the firm’s multi-disciplinary experience.”

York commented, “Eric brings from his years of practice a comprehensive knowledge of the complexities and myriad legal issues facing the media industry. His leadership experience at the intersection of law and policy makes him the ideal leader of CMG’s legal team. Eric will add immeasurable value to our business innovation and growth strategy.”

Greenberg added, “I am extremely honored to join CMG during a time of dynamic transformation and growth. The vision of our board and financial sponsors, the leadership of Dan and Steve Pruett, and the talent of the CMG team in markets across the country, presents a distinctive opportunity. I am excited to contribute to CMG’s legacy and growth at a moment in the media ecosystem that is abounding with change and abundant in potential.”

A New York native, Greenberg has lived in the Washington, D.C. area since attending The George Washington University Law School.
