Colorado deal full of undercurrents

It is perhaps a sign of the times that the contract for the sale of silent KAYF-FM Bayfield CO calls for a cash payment directly to the seller’s lender. The dealers on both sides of the table are radio veterans. Selling is Christopher F. Devine’s College Creek Media, and the buyers are Rogers and Anthony Brandon, using their Winton Road Broadcasting Company. The price, headed directly to HBK Capital Management, is $250K. The seller will apply to the FCC to upgrade the station from Class A to C2, will apply for a 180-day extension on its STA allowing it to remain silent, and the buyer will apply to move KRWN-FM Farmington NM from 92.9 MHz to 92.5 MHz. Winton Road owns several stations in the vicinity, which is not rated by Arbitron. Two, KISZ-FM Cortez CA nd KPTE-FM Durango CO, will overlap KAYF-FM.
