The former Clear Channel Country outlet KSD-FM St. Louis host was found dead 5/1 at a home in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Cornett, 46, was found by his ex-wife with whom he had reconciled. Cornett’s ex-wife told police she had texted him on Tuesday and did not receive a reply. She thought he may have been with a friend of his who was in town from St. Louis.

Police say Cornett was found sitting upright in a chair. The ex-wife says she thought he was asleep, but when she tried to wake him she noticed he was cold to the touch. Authorities believe Cornett had been deceased for several hours, or possibly days. The cause of death has not yet been determined, but an empty sleeping pill bottle was found in the sink of the downstairs main bathroom.

There were no signs of forced entry or struggle, and no property was reported missing.

Police say Cornett’s ex-wife told them Cornett was in bed with her Monday night and couldn’t sleep. She told authorities “he said he wanted the pain to go away” and she believed he was referring to issues he was having with another ex-wife.

In January 2011, Cornett was arrested for assaulting a 75-year old man in a casino parking lot. Cornett told investigators the man honked his horn at him while he was walking before the fight happened, while the elderly man says Cornett hit his car, then hit the man when he went to check for damage. The man reportedly had bruises and cuts on his face. No word if he was convicted on the charge.
