Cumulus Hires Harvill To Lead SFO Station Group

An individual with more than a decade of experience overseeing a group of radio stations serving the San Francisco Bay Area was recently displaced.

As of today, he’s no longer on the outside looking in. Instead, he’s at a group of stations that were once formidable competitors, charged with bringing these AMs and FMs new riches and increased ratings.

Now serving as Cumulus Media/San Francisco‘s VP/Market Manager is Doug Harvill. He joins Cumulus after running CBS Radio’s former San Francisco, where he was SVP/Market Manager until the Reverse Morris Trust-fueled merger between CBS Radio and Entercom led to management changes at the stations.

Cumulus’ San Francisco-Oakland stations are comprised of Sports KNBR-AM 680, Adult Alternative KFOG-FM 104.5, Talk KGO-AM 810, Classic Rock KSAN-FM “107.7 The Bone,” Talk KSFO-AM 560 and Sports Talk KTCT-AM 1050, branded as “KNBR2.”

Prior to 2006, Harvill spent nine years as SVP/Market Manager for CBS Radio in Sacramento.

From 1998-2006, Harvill was a VP and National PD for the former EZ Communications.

Harvill reports to Cumulus Media EVP/Operations Dave Milner, who said, “I have always admired Doug’s ability to drive consistent ratings and revenue growth in the competitive San Francisco market. He is a smart and strategic leader that surrounds himself with talented individuals. This, along with his intimate knowledge of the market landscape made him the perfect choice to lead Cumulus San Francisco.”

Harvill added, “Over the past twelve years I’ve competed against the Cumulus San Francisco properties and am acutely aware of both the significant strengths and growth opportunities for these legendary stations. Think about these call letters: KNBR, KFOG, KGO, KSAN, KSFO and KTCT. These are iconic radio brands with passionate listeners. I am excited to work with the people who create these powerful community-centered stations.”

Harvill succeeds Justin Wittmayer.
