Block Communications will not be picking up The CW for KTRV-TV Boise after losing Fox to former CW affiliate KNIN-TV, owned by Journal Communications. Instead, the new CW affiliate is Fisher Communications’ KBOI-TV (CBS), which will put The CW on a digital multicast channel.

Effective no later than September 12, The CW will be broadcast on a KBOI digital channel and simulcast on KYUU-LP Boise.

“The CW Television Network is a terrific addition to our Boise CBS station and we are excited to expand our relationship with them,” said Robert I. Dunlop, Fisher Executive Vice President Operations. “We have had the pleasure of working closely with the team at The CW over the past year on a number of initiatives and we are delighted to be working with them in Boise, too.”

In addition to presenting The CW’s primetime fare, “Boise’s CW” will also feature original local morning and late news, local programming like Entertainment TV, strong first-run and off-network programming like Fisher-managed “The Daily Buzz,” plus eight hours of comedy hits each weekday, including “Seinfeld,” “That ’70s Show,” “South Park” and “The King of Queens.”
