Nexstar Ramps Up ‘DC News Now,’ Entering a Competitive Nation’s Capital

Until now, the National Capital Region has had a variety of local news choices ranging from TEGNA’s flagship CBS affiliate to a NBCUniversal owned-and-operated station. There’s also a FOX O&O, and Sinclair Broadcast Group’s ABC affiliate, which has a 24/7 news channel that evolved from what had been “NewsChannel 8” three decades ago.


Soon, another news brand will arrive in the Washington, D.C., region. Nexstar Media Group hopes it will have the same power as in other markets where ‘Now’ magnetizes news seekers.
