Defunct Library-Run LPFM Finds A New Licensee

On March 1, 2016, the Charleston County, S.C., Public Library system signed on a 100-watt low-powered FM station from a tower site to the east of downtown.

By May 2018, the station was put on death watch, after administrators argued the LPFM was not aligned with the library’s “strategic mission.”

Now, nearly a year after the station went dark, it has a new owner.

It’s thanks in part to the man who ran the station — a sign that its resurrection could come soon.
