Denver investors pick up Colorado ski-country FM

The jury is out as to whether or not the buyers of KBTB-FM in Vail CO want to operate the station or simply own it, but they are definitely planning to buy it from Superior Broadcasting of Denver LLC. The contract for the station comes with a contract for an LMA it is party to.

The station is being bought by Vail Radio Partners LLC, headed by Donald Jackson. In turn, VRP is backed by Jackson’s Stone Pine Investments II LLC and Charles Lontine’s Marconi Acquisition Fund V LLC.

Signing off for the seller is broadcast investment veteran Charles W. Banta. The station lists other familiar names on its ownership list, including Christopher Devine and Bruce Buzil.

The price will be $1.15M for the Class C1 facility on 104.7 MHz. It is expected to be fully paid in cash at closing.

The station is currently being operated by Cool Radio LLC, dating back to an LMA signed on 8/31/09. Per the transaction contract, the buyers are free to negotiate an extension to the LMA or open talks with third parties, but an agreement on any such third person transaction will not be considered a contingency on this transaction.
