Dick Gleason Ends Battle With ALS

Dick Gleason had a lifelong passion for Radio. This was displayed across five decades, spanning from the early 1970s through 2014. He owned radio stations in Mexico and Norway — not the countries, but towns with these names in Maine.

Gleason was also a strong believer in community service, and served as Mayor of Auburn, Maine, from 2009-2011. He was also the owner of a different type of radio entity: From the mid-1980s until 1999, Gleason owned a Radio Shack franchise in Oxford, Maine.

These activities and more explain why individuals from Maine to Maui are paying tribute to Gleason, who concluded his fight against ALS on Saturday (2/9) at his home in Auburn. He was 71 years of age.
