Planet Green, its 4-year-old cable network devoted to the green lifestyle will switch on Memorial Day to “Destination America,” a network that Discovery said will “celebrate the people, places, and stories of the United States, emblazoned with the grit and tenacity, honesty and work ethic, humor and adventurousness that characterize our nation.”
Destination America, launching in almost 60 million homes, includes numerous food-themed shows. They include original programming like global travel show “Fast Food Mania” (premiering 6/3) and “United States of Food” (7/8). It’s called a “celebration of America’s obsession with meat.” “Fast Food Mania” promises to “celebrate our favorite fast food treats and search for the most unusual fast food items and outposts.”
“Super-Duper Thrill Rides” debuts 6/16. “Cheating Las Vegas” debuts 7/14 and Old West exploration strip “Ghost Town Gold” in August. Cheating Las Vegas revolves around elaborate scams of modern casino gaming and Super-Duper Thrill Rides will tour America’s amusement parks.
