Dish also drops soccer channel

Citadel Communication’s four local stations in the Midwest weren’t the only signals to be pulled from Dish Network on Friday, August 1st. GolTV, a bilingual 24/7 soccer channel, charged that it was dropped by Dish after the satellite carrier tried to impose “unreasonable contract demands and terms.”

For its part, Dish said GolTV “refused to offer to negotiate a fair and reasonable price for continued carriage.”

The channel was pulled as GolTV was presenting live coverage from London of the Emirates Cup.

"Dish Network has demonstrated total disregard for independent networks, the millions of soccer fans we represent, and minority-owned businesses by this action," said Rodrigo Lombello, GolTV COO. "We urge upset Dish viewers to contact us or Dish to voice their concerns," he added.
