The Raese family’s West Virginia Radio was present in most of the state’s radio markets, but not Beckley – until now. Its acquisition of WJLS AM and FM there has made it to the finish line.
According to broker Larry Patrick of Patrick Communications, the price was $4.5M. As RBR-TVBR earlier reported, that represents a nice increase over the $3.6M seller First Media Radio LLC paid for it back in 2001.
WVR is headed by John Raese, David Raese and Dale Miller.
Alex Kolobielski is the principal of First Media Radio LLC.
WJLS-FM is a Country Class B on 99.5 MHz with 34 kW @ 1,050’.
WJLS-AM is a Gospel Class B on 560 kHz with 4.5 kW-D, 470 W-N, DAN.
