Done deal in the Champaign IL market

The $1.4M deal sending WUIL-FM to D.W.S. Inc. is now officially in the books. The deal brings the station into a cluster that includes an existing AM-FM combo and also brings it into cross-ownership with a local newspaper.

Gene Ferry brokered the deal, bringing the Arcola IL-licensed WUIL together with WDWS-AM and WHMS-FM. The newspaper in the media group is The News-Gazette.

The seller is Champaign Partners LLC, headed by John Maguire. The terms involved cold, hard cash at closing.

Arcola is some distance south of Champaign, but with a transmitter location north of that town, its 60 dBu signal reaches all but the northernmost portions of Champaign’s most populated areas.
