droneTV executives looking to lease or buy drones will want to keep an eye on a Senate hearing on Thursday.

We’ve reported that several state and local governments have drone legislation on the books and some members of Congress are considering restricting their use as well.

A subcommittee of the House Commerce Committee plans a hearing Nov. 19.

Titled “The Disrupter Series: The Fast-Evolving Uses and Economic Impacts of Drones.” Witnesses will be announced.

Texas Republican Rep. Michael Burgess chairs the subcommittee. Though there are exciting applications in various stages of development, Burgess adds there are legitimate questions about how they work as well as safety and privacy issues. The hearing also gives lawmakers a chance to explore business applications for drones.
